  • Relaxation and focus for the mind and time-out for self.
  • Relief from stress.
  • Improved mobility and balance.
  • Improved breathing.
  • Improved energy.

Background
Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi is a short and gentle sequence of 18 movements influenced by the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan practised in China since the 1800’s.  Roughly translated, the term Qigong or Chi Kung means ‘energy work’.

  • The term ‘Qi’ or ‘Chi’ means ‘energy’ (which in yoga is referred to as ‘prana’).
  • The term ‘gong’ or ‘kung’ means ‘work’.

The sequence can be practised both standing and when seated, so is accessible for most people, including those with health conditions.

What to wear:
  • Loose and comfortable clothing to support comfort and the flow of energy (ideally no tight clothing or waist bands).
  • Bare feet or supportive trainers, according to needs and support required. Socks can be worn although may not be appropriate if moving on a slippery surface.

Space needed:
  • Limited space is needed, but ideally have a space the length of your body in all directions (e.g. front, back, and right and left sides).
  • Ideally use a space where you will not be interrupted and create an ambient environment for self-nurturing (e.g. free from clutter).
  • Have a chair available if needed. (please inform us when booking if you will be practising seated).
